2012 Malibu Open Format
The top 8 Athletes from the Elite Ranking List for OM Slalom & Jump and OW Slalom & Jump will be protected.
These invitations will be forwarded to these top 32 athletes the week following the U.S. Masters.
If an athlete drops out of the top 8 and a different athlete moves up, during the time span prior to the Malibu Open, both athletes will be awarded invitations.
Athletes will have 30 days to accept or decline this invitation
If an athlete declines the invitation the next athlete on the Elite Ranking list will receive an invitation.
These athletes will ski on Saturday, August 4th only.
Friday, August 3rd, will be a qualifying event for all skiers that wish to compete in the Malibu Open.
One qualifying round will take place on Friday, August 3rd.
The entry fee for this round will be $200
A maximum of 40 athletes will compete.
Four athletes from each group (total of 16) will be added to the protected 32 athletes that will compete on Saturday.
Malibu Boats and Pro Slalom Events is proud to announce the Junior Malibu Open event that will take place on Friday, August 3, 2012.
These Jr. athletes will compete following the Pro qualifying event.
24 Jr. athletes from around the globe will receive invitations to compete in 1st annual Jr. Malibu Open.
These athletes will be chosen by the IWWF Jr. World standing list.
The champions of each Jr. event will compete in the Pro event on Saturday August, 4th.
