World cup in Mandurah – what an experience!
The World Cup Stop in Mandurah was an exciting event for all of us. It has been a great place to stay, it is
one hour south of Perth in Western Australia. Mandurah greeted us with relaxed lifestyle and playful dolphins in the water. It was beautiful surroundings and we felt very welcome.
The conditions on the water were a bit of a struggle. The shoreline had concrete walls and would shoot the wakes from the boat back into the jump course. It made it very hard to control the skis and even to keep the balance.
This is the first World Cup in Australia ever. The Mayor and sponsors loved the event and thought it was a huge success. The organizers are very enthusiastic and keen to improve the site for next year, so it becomes more friendly to the skiers.
It is nice to know that despite the difficult conditions we still delivered good performances and impressed the spectators. IWSF and the city agreed to a 4 year contract and we are all looking forward to coming back!
